The Nordmende brand believes in the power of technology to live passionate moments.

“Radio H. Mende GmbH” is founded by Otto Hermann Mende in Dresden, Eastern Germany, to produce and market radio and audio equipment under “Mende” brand.

To continue his father’s corporate legacy, Martin Mende, creates a new company in Bremen, North Germany, called “Norddeutsche Mende-Rundfunk GmbH” and changes the brand name to “Nordmende”.

“Elektra”, first AM FM tube radio.

“Panorama”, first B&W TV set.

“Mambo”, first portable transistor radio.

“Spectra Color Studio”, first TV with 4 tuners to watch 4 different TV programs at the same time.

“Spectra Futura”, stereo system designed in collaboration with Designer Raymond Loewy.

Mende’s sons take over the company, which has become one of the prominent German manufacturers of televisions, radios, tape recorders and record players.

Nordmende TV Sets are renowned for their innovative chassis and rigorous quality control.

French Thomson Group purchases the company. It is the beginning of a fruitful collaboration which enables the launch of many successful products.

The famous French Designer Philippe Starck collaborates with the Nordmende brand. Many original and special products are developed under his art direction.

The owner of the Nordmende brand in Ireland, KAL Group, starts to market with success a full range of white goods and TVs in Ireland with much success.

Technicolor (former Thomson Group) starts to develop a trademark licensing business on various categories: television, digital radio, digital receiver, phone, wearable device and professional displays.
